One of my favorite cooking tools isn’t really a tool per se, it’s Pillsbury Crescent Rolls! If you haven’t used these deliciously flakey pastries, they will change your cooking life. Seriously! It’s pre-made dough in a can, and can be used a million different ways — from standard rolls to desserts to main dishes! Three Easy & Delicious Fall Recipes
Mini Calzones
A family favorite around our house, these mini calzones are simple to make and work great as leftovers.
Ingredients
- 1 can (8 oz) of Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
- 1 can tomato sauce
- 1 lb bag of sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 pack of pepperoni
- Pinch of garlic salt seasoning
- 2 cups flour
Directions
Spread flour on a cutting board. Roll out sections of the Pillsbury Crescent Rolls until flat. Repeat until all rolls are flattened. Spread tomato sauce over rolls. In the middle of the roll, add cheese, pepperoni and/or any other desired ingredients. Fold one side of the roll over the center and press edges securely flat. Bake at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients
- 1 can (8 oz) of Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
- ¼ cup Pumpkin Butter (Trader Joe’s brand works great!)
- 4 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 cups flour
- Optional: 1 tub of cream cheese frosting
Directions
Spread flour on a cutting board. Take out all of the Pillsbury Crescent Rolls and work them together into one big dough ball. Then roll out until completely flat. Spread pumpkin butter, make sure to cover the entire surface. (Tip: use more pumpkin butter rather than less, creating a thick layer.) Sprinkle cinnamon and brown sugar over pumpkin butter. Roll into one long log. Cut into 1” thick slices. (Optional: add cream cheese frosting) Bake at 375 degrees for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Crescent Corn Dogs
Great for sharing with friends, these crescent corn dogs are the perfect answer to tailgating and sports parties! {Image via Pillsbury}
Ingredients
- 2 cans (8 oz each) Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
- 2 tablespoons yellow cornmeal
- 1 package mini sausages
- Half a stick of butter
Directions
Spread flour on a cutting board. Take out each section of the Pillsbury Crescent Rolls and cut into thirds. Roll each third flat. Repeat until all sections are rolled flat. Place mini sausage in the center of each crescent. Starting from a corner, roll dough over sausage. Place edge down on a greased cookie sheet. Repeat until all dough is used. Melt half stick of butter in a microwave-safe dish. Drizzle butter over mini sausage rolls. Bake at 375 degrees for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.
