It’s that time, people. The time when new year resolutions may still be going strong but the doubt and lingering of ‘can I really do this?’ and ‘ugghh, this is so hard’ start to creep in. One of our first items on the list is a given — a bowl of fruit! Hopefully this is an easy snack you already have around the house. Challenge yourself to reach for an apple or a cup of berries as an easy snack. The natural sugars and antioxidants in fruit are great healing and nourishing agents for a healthy body!
If you’re craving a salty treat, let yourself enjoy one! It’s all about portion control and choosing low-fat products. For a quick treat, enjoy a small bag of low-fat popcorn. You’ll assuage your salty cravings without ruining your healthy eating for the day.
One Brown Rice Cake + Honey + Peanut Butter
Next up, try one brown rice cake with peanut butter and honey drizzled on top. I don’t know about you, but this sounds scrumptious! Natural honey on a crunchy bed of goodness? Yes please! This is a quick, low-calorie, satisfying snack.
Banana with Chocolate Syrup
Sweet-tooth peeps, you'll go bananas for this sweet snack! Instead of reaching for the candy drawer, why not allow your self this sweet treat? Peal one banana and add some delicious chocolate (low cal and low fat) on top. You’ll get all the nutrients and protein from the banana with the added benefits of satisfying your need for sweets.
Baked veggies are delicious. No really, try them! Cut a head of broccoli into small bite-sized portions. Place on a cookie sheet. Drizzle olive oil and sprinkle garlic salt on the mini trees. Bake for 5-10 minutes, or until golden brown. Viola! A delicious and crunchy take on broccoli!
Another loved veggie made the list! Edamame is an office favorite. We love eating a bowl of edamame and dipping the ends in a touch of salt. The best part? Because you’re eating vegetables full of healthy goodness, eat as much as your heart desires!
Hard Boiled Eggs
For an easy snack that will last all week, boil a half dozen eggs and enjoy one each day. Prep time is minimal, especially if you cook all the eggs at once. Hard boiled eggs with a little bit of tabasco sauce or even a sprinkle of salt are mmmm good! And, hard boiled eggs are incredible healthy - we’re talking protein galore!
Low-fat Cheese Sticks
Where are my dairy lovers?!! You didn’t think we would forget about you, did you? Grab a low-fat cheese stick for quick and easy snacks on the go! The best part is that they are so portable! Throw a few in your purse for the perfect snack anywhere you go!
Nom Nom Nom, (don’t know this moniker? It’s the sound someone makes when they’re totally enjoying their food). We found it as an appropriate way to describe apple chips. If you haven’t had these you’re missing out! Apple chips are a delicious mix of sweet and crisp. Pick some up at your local grocer instead of chips next time.
Granola and Yogurt
Lastly, we’re paying homage to all the granola fans out there. For a quick, easy, and surprisingly filling snack, try some yogurt with granola. You’ll get a mix of all the goodness yogurt has (probiotics, amen!) and some crunchy oats and, well, granola, to spice it up.
