Yesterday’s Academy Awards were filled with inspiration, beauty, and glamour.

From Ellen DeGenere’s hilarious one-liners to Lupita N’yongo’s breath-taking gown to Matthew McConaughey’s heart-felt acceptance speech, the Oscar’s this year seemed to be extraordinarily inspirational and more, well, real.

I’m not sure what’s changed, but it feels like ordinary, everyday people have more of a chance to take part in the Oscar’s, and movie-making in general, than ever before. And I find it incredibly exciting!

Here’s our top four inspirational moments of the night.

1. Jared Leto’s acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actor for his role in “Dallas Buyer’s Club.”

Leto thanked and honored his mother for teaching him to dream despite the hardships she endured as a pregnant teenager. He also thanked his brother for being “the best big brother in the world and his best friend.”

I love his ability to show his appreciation to his family for all of the support they gave him.

2. Cate Blanchett’s acceptance speech for Best Actress for her leading role in

“Blue Jasmine.”

Blanchett thanked her fellow nominees and brought light to a huge issue in Hollywood - the gender disparity in film - saying “female-focused films are NOT niche. And they make money. The world is round people!” Then, as the first Australian to win “Best Actress” at the Academy Awards, she recognized the amazing amount of unseen Australian talent, calling herself “the tip of the iceberg.”

It’s so gratifying to see an amazing artist and role model use her platform of celebrity as a call for action, and to promote other artists as well. Way to go Cate!

3. Matthew McConaughy’s acceptance speech for Best Actor for his lead role in “Dallas Buyer’s Club.”

Right after Jennifer Lawrence announced Matthew McConaughey as the winner, he stood up and gave his wife, Camila Alves, one of the most romantic kisses, holding the smooch for good three to five seconds (a long time in live-broadcast-TV- land!) His acceptance speech was even better.

It’s inspiring that he continues to push himself to constantly improve to be the man he wants to be. He ended his speech, making the audience laugh with his infamous, “Alright, Alright, Alright” line from Dazed and Confused.

4. Lupita N’yongo’s acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actress for her role in

“12 Years a Slave.”

Lastly, my personal favorite moment of the night, Lupita N’yongo’s acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actress. She is not only an extremely talented actress but also very humble. N’yongo’s speech was incredibly inspiring. She said that her part in the film has been “the joy of her life”and also thanked Yale School of Drama, as a recent alumnus, for her acting training and her brother for being her best friend. Arguably her most inspiring words were her closing remarks saying, “When I look down at this golden statue, may it remind me and every little child that no matter where you’re from, your dreams are valid.”

It was a great night of television and we hope you found it as inspiring as we did!

Keep chasing your dreams!
