Ahead of the Curve in Plus Size Fashion

Ashley Graham is making history and headlines as the first plus size model to be featured in Sports Illustrated’s annual swimsuit issue. The size 16 model makes her Sports Illustrated debut in an ad campaign for plus size bikinis.

“I know my curves are sexy and I want everyone else to know that theirs are too,” said Graham of her ground-breaking accomplishment.

Sports Illustrated also announced yesterday that the Swimsuit Issue will feature plus size Australian model Robyn Lawley within its editorial pages. Lawley is a size 12, which is considered plus size — although sometimes controversially — within the modeling and fashion industry.

"I don't know if I consider myself as a plus-size model or not," Lawley told  Time magazine. "I just consider myself a model because I'm trying to help women in general accept their bodies. "

Regardless, many people are excited to see Sports Illustrated embrace the plus size swimwear industry, and here at HAPARI, we love to see women of all sizes being comfortable in their own skin.
