Today we’re sharing the wonderful goodness that is summer smoothies. There’s nothing quite like a cold, tasty smoothie on a hot summer day. They’re perfect easy-to-make drinks while you’re on the go this summer. Just add your favorite fruits and veggies, a dairy supplement like milk or coconut water, and you’re good to go!
Yep, they’re that easy to make, but how you make them may determine how tasty and nutritious they are. Combining compatible fruit and veggie flavors will make a huge difference in the taste (and whether your kids will actually drink them or not). That’s why we’ve compiled a list of the tastiest and most nutritious smoothies to try this summer!
These Recipes Are Our Favorite Summer Smoothie Recipes
Mellow Yellow Smoothie
They call me Mellow Yellow! The famous song from the 60’s goes perfectly with this tasty smoothie drink inspired by bananas, pineapples, and our other favorite yellow fruits. Did you know yellow colored fruits and veggies are incredibly good for you? Yep, brightly colored yellow foods are bursting with vitamin C that will boost your vision and help your skin stay clear and shiny. Yellow fruits and veggies also have carotenoids and bioflavonoids that serve as natural antioxidants. Try this Mellow Yellow Smoothie recipe to get all the nutrients!

- ¼ cup chopped kale
- 1 banana, peeled
- ½ cup pineapple
- ½ cup mango

Green Goddess Smoothie
This first smoothie is a fantastic way to get all of your daily veggie nutrients in one tasty drink - that’s why we’re calling it the Green Goddess Smoothie. Plus, any chance to use the words ‘goddess’ is definitely a go in our book. This smoothie recipe comes from the BBCGoodFood and combines avocado, kale, spinach, cucumber, pineapple, and coconut water to make a tasty treat you’ll love (and your body will thank you for all the fiber!)

Berry, Berry Good Smoothie
Berry smoothies are hands down the BEST type of smoothie, in my opinion. ;) This Berry, Berry Good Smoothie recipe comes to us from Trader Joe’s. You’ll love the mix of yogurt, orange juice, and bananas with the sweet pops of strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, and raspberries. If you’re looking to introduce your kiddos to smoothies, start with this sweet, yummy one they’re sure to love!

Ingredients
- 2 bananas
- 3 cups frozen berry medley - we love Trader Joe’s Frozen Raspberry, Blueberry, and Strawberry mix
- 1 cup frozen blackberries
- 3 or 4 ice cubes
- ½ tsp chia seeds
- ½ cup orange juice
- ¾ cup honey-flavored greek yogurt
Directions Add soft ingredients - bananas, chia seeds, orange juice and greek yogurt - to the blender first. Add the frozen ingredients second. Putting the frozen ingredients in last will help keep the ingredients compact and help blend a smooth smoothie. Enjoy!
